Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili and US Ambassador Kelly Degnan attend RSM pre-deployment training demonstration
The rehearsal of the pre-deployment of NATO Task Force Resolute Support Mission(RSM) Rehearsal Training Mission (MRE) in Afghanistan, together with the US military, was held in Georgia for the first time this year instead of Germany.
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili was in Vaziani with US Ambassador Kelly Degnan, where he got acquainted with the process of preparation for the international mission, attended a demonstration exercise and wished the military servicemen a successful international mission.
According to the Minister of Defense, this is another clear example that the center (JTEC) has all the resources and opportunities to successfully conduct international level exercises on the territory of Georgia. To date, Georgian military personnel have been in Germany for the final stages of training for international missions, where they are being assessed. Today, the mentioned exercises have already been held on the basis of the Georgian Defense Forces.
The guests were introduced to the details of the preparation for the mission, after which a demonstration exercise was held for them, which included the operation of cordon and search. During the exercise, military personnel evacuated the wounded by Iroquois. At this stage, the 13th Infantry Battalion of the First Infantry Brigade is preparing to participate in the international mission. The exercise was also attended by representatives of the Defense Forces and U.S. Defense Attaché, Colonel Stephanie Begley.
About 600 military personnel took part in the final exercises, the last component of the 4-month intensive training. To date, about 18,000 Georgian servicemen have undergone appropriate training and served with the Americans in ISAF and RSM operations.
